Description
A hundred years ago, it was called Caffè Tempo—the only bar on the waterfront of Marciana Marina, nestled between the beach and Piazza della Chiesa. It was where the townspeople would gather after a hard day’s work to rest, play cards, and share a bottle of wine. It appears in old photographs capturing the slow rhythm of village life, among boats, fishing nets, donkeys, and wine barrels.
Much time has passed since then, but Luca Romano has restored its historic name to the sign of what had become Bar Roma during the tourist boom of the 1950s. It’s a tribute, first and foremost, to his grandparents, who purchased the premises in 1930—back when the area was surrounded by shipyards, boatbuilders, and fishermen. Today, the bar remains a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.
After gaining experience in several renowned hotels on the island, Luca has transformed the bar, enhancing its image and offering delicious food—from house breakfasts with homemade sweets and savory options to aperitivo dinners with views of the sea and the little park just in front.
The menu features drinks and tempting dishes, always accompanied by good music and a warm atmosphere. With a curated selection of spirits and his mixology expertise, Luca serves up unforgettable cocktails. On special occasions, a large screen creates a cozy, home-like ambiance—just like being among friends in a living room.
A must-stop for anyone visiting from afar, looking to relax and enjoy the charm and cool breeze of the island’s smallest village.
