Description
It is the beach made of large stones nestled among the rocks behind the square by the Torre of Marciana Marina. Often mistakenly called “Fenicia” — an Italianized version of the local dialect — its real name is Finiccia. Before the port was built, it formed the isthmus that connected the rocks where the Torre della Novaglia (locally known as la Tore) stands to the rest of the island.
The beach was shaped by stones carried down by the large Marciana stream (known locally as del Toro), which in the past was so abundant in water that it powered around twenty mills and a pasta factory between Marciana and Marciana Marina. Finiccia is Marciana Marina’s “chic” beach, offering bathing services and located near renowned hotels, restaurants, bars, gelaterias, and shops along the seafront.
It’s also the perfect spot to witness some of the most breathtaking sunsets of your stay, as the sun sets beside Capraia, painting the sea and sky in shades of red and purple.
